Teri was found 4 years ago in an old mobile home in Kansas where she had been abandoned. She survived by drinking dry a broken toilet bowl and when she was found she weighed 30 pounds. Over the years she has recovered pretty well, but still bears the emotional and physical scars. She is quite shy and will hide in a closet when children or strangers are around. Her front legs are somewhat turned in, causing her to trip over her own feet at times. Teri is not tolerant of cats or small animals.
Teri is a six-year-old fawn female who was fostered at the adoption kennel until a foster home could be found that didn’t have cats, small dogs or little children. Teri made tremendous strides in overcoming her shyness and in early March, 2004, Teri was moved to a foster home where she lived with two other greyhounds. Teri continued to grow to trust her foster father and become more confident. She still doesn’t like to be touched around her neck and is most comfortable at home, where she now does a little happy dance to greet her foster father when he comes home.
Teri now greets people on walks and doesn’t become terrified at the sight of small children. At a recent adoption event, Teri was remarkably tolerant of all the activity and strangers. It was at this event, that a family met Teri and decided they wanted to adopt her. Teri has now been adopted and is doing well in her new home.
