Jack is a 10 year old, large, gentle boy with a loving personality. Jack was returned to GPA when his owner could no longer care for him. He currently has an injury to his rear leg that needs to heal before he is adopted. He has lived with cats, both indoor and outdoor and gets along fine with other greyhounds. Jack is very gentle with people of all sizes.

Jacks rear leg has been diagnosed by an orthopedic specialist as a torn muscle. His rear foot does not hold his weight properly and appears to cause him some pain. He is now in a foster home that will care for him while he is healing. Jack is doing well in his cast and already wants to play with his foster parents.

This week Jack had a minor pressure sore from his cast so a new, more sporty version was installed that has more padding and will not rub in the same places. While the cast was being changed, the orthopedist said that the leg is healing well and it looks like his function will be good once the healing process is complete. He is still on Rimadyl for pain and will be re-evaluated on November 1st.

As of November 1st, Jack continues to make good progress in healing his leg. The orthopedist has seen him several times to change his cast and check his progress. We are hopeful that Jack can soon get along without a cast and begin to get more excercise.

Jack's leg healed well and he is now walking without pain. He found a home for life with a great family who also have pther greyhounds.
