Phoenix is a 9-month-old red fawn male who suffered a severe femur break on his right rear leg during the first week of November. Phoenix was facing a possible amputation because of financial considerations, when GPA-NW was asked to assist by the vet tech that had taken him under her wing.
GPA-NW arranged for Phoenix's care, which included surgery to plate the break.

Two dys after his surgery, Phoenix was doing well in his recovery. He had one rough day but has started taking short walks with a sling to help support his weight. Within a week, the edema in his leg was much better and it looked like a normal leg again.

After a brief stop in the hospitals garden, they all left for a new adventure. Phoenix is doing very well, walking with assistance and gaining strength.
Four weeks into recovery, Phoenix is doing great. He is kept a little sedated to make sure he doesn't get too energetic and damage the rebuilding bone in his leg. Phoenix is sharing a home with a dachsund and several cats. He is an early riser and has endeared himself to his foster family.
Phoenix has now been adopted by his rescuer and foster family. He is a big dog now at nearly 80 pounds and growing. He has fully recovered from his broken leg and is living happily ever after.
