Name: Buster (Buster was not tattooed for racing)
Born: Approximately May 2004
Color: Red
Cats: Cat Tolerant
Buster is an adorable red fawn male who came to GPA-NW from GPA-Emerald Coast in Pensacola, Florida when he was just four months old. Buster had suffered a broken left front leg when he was about two months old and was not suitable for being transported over land. Since he is a young puppy, he needs a home where people are home all the time. He also needs plenty of space for exercise and would do best with another dog that will play gently with him.
Due to the devastation of the hurricanes in Florida this fall, many adoption facilities were destroyed and foster homes suffered damage making them unsafe, leaving hundreds of dogs who were safely evacuated during the actual storms no where to return to afterward. Many dog hauls have taken place in recent weeks to move the abundance of dogs in Florida to other states for adoption. A member of GPA-Emerald Coast who is also a Delta flight attendant was able to arrange to fly both Buster and his traveling mate, Angel (a one-year-old with a broken leg) to Portland at a reduced cost.

Buster was evaluated by an orthopedic surgeon and due to the fact that Buster is still growing, his injury was re-evaluated one month later with further x-rays to make sure the break continues to mend acceptably.
His last evaluation revealed that his legs are healing well and he just needs to be watched for any rotation or bowing in his legs as they grow. Buster is currently enjoying everything that puppies enjoy - playing with toys, exploring everything, and cuddling for naps. He is a very confident, loveable, outgoing little guy who gets along with other greyhounds, other breeds of dogs and cats.
Buster is now nearly ten months old and weighs about 55 pounds. He is a small boy but full of energy and spirit. His leg has continued to improve and the orthopedic vet believes he will be just fine without any surgery or treatment. Other than a slight limp in his stride, you would never know he had been injured.
Buster has been adopted. He is busy doing puppy things and at close to a year old, he is learning what is acceptable behaviour for the house and for the yard. Buster has a 10 year old playmate who has taken him under her wing.
