Ohio is a beautiful boy with a gentle personality. He gets along with the other dog in his foster home. He could care less about cats and prefers people every time.
Shortly after arriving in our adoption program, Ohio broke his rear leg just below the knee. The break was severe and surgeons recommended amputating his leg to give him the best possible life. The reason his bone broke is due to bone cancer. With treatment, his prognosis is favorable and he has the potential to live a happy, pain free life for as long as he is able.
Ohio had his leg removed Friday, September 29th and recoverd with amazing speed. He was up and walking within 12 hours and gets better every day. The change in his body has not affected his personality at all and he is still just a sweet and affectionate as ever. He was fully healed from the surgery within two to three weeks and the biopsy showed that his cancer is considered low grade. With your donations GPA is able to treat him so that he can live as long and as happily as possible. Bone cancer survival with amputation and treatment is between 12 and 18 months with some dogs living even longer, up to three years. We are hopeful that Ohio will be one of the lucky ones.

Our group believes that it is our responsibility to care for what ever dogs come to us no matter how old, sick or hurt they may be. We don't take the easy way out or turn our backs on them. We think there may be a reason that they have come to us so we give every dog everything we can. A home-for-life is the most they ask for, it's up to us to make that happen.
Ohio found his angels and has been adopted into a loving home. He now shares his home with two wonderful people and another dog. He has completed his chemotherapy and is doing great. This home is heaven sent for Ohio and he is getting the happy life that he deserves.
