A Busy Summer For Greyhounds
May 1, 2007 - Portland Oregon
Greyhound Pets of America Northwest
Greyhound Pets of America Northwest announced their most active
summer event schedule in the history of the organization. They will
conduct adoption events for the Greyhounds almost every weekend
during the next four months. Some weekends will host multiple events
in locations throughout Oregon and Southern Washington.
This is the time of year that we can take the Greyhounds out to meet
the public and give people an opportunity to see what amazing dogs
they are and what wonderful pets they make, said Anne Soeder GPA
Northwest Event Coordinator. The weather is perfect for outdoor
activities and Greyhounds enjoy being out in public meeting new
people and seeing new things. Greyhound Pets of America sole mission
is to find homes for retired racing Greyhounds and to educate the
public about the desirability of Greyhounds as pets. Bringing the
Dogs to the community is their best way to introduce Greyhounds to
people who may be considering adding a dog to their family.
Greyhounds are affectionate & gentle. They make excellent companions
for families, couples and singles. In general, most can learn to
live with cats and small animals as well.
With so many events taking place throughout Oregon and into Southern
Washington, the group relies on their website to share information
about locations, dates and times for these events. A visit to their
website at www.gpa-nw.org will show you just how active the
volunteers will be for the next several months. Each week an event
is featured on their front page and a quick link to the full events
schedule is just a click away. The website also has all of the
groups available Greyhounds with photos and short descriptions as
well and plenty of information about their adoption process and
FAQ's about Greyhounds. You can learn about the breed and the
organization, make a donation and if your really interested, you can
even fill out an application for adoption right on the website.
GPA Northwest is also looking for volunteers who would like to help
in any way with the Greyhounds. Staffing events, transporting
Greyhounds and many other activities are always taking place and
everyone is welcome to participate. GPA-Northwest welcomes
volunteers from all walks of life, regardless of whether they have
adopted a Greyhound. All that is required is a love of animals, and
a willingness to work for a noble cause.
